FAQ

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate Marketing is a great way to earn some money working from home. You don't have to have your own products or services to sell, you simply promote other peoples, and they pay you a commission when you generate them and order.

By becoming an affiliate with a company you can generate your own tracking links (and in some cases, discount codes) that you can add to your website and social media. When someone clicks on these links, or uses your discount code, you get paid a commission.

What can I promote as an Affiliate?

Pretty much anything you can think of! Most companies offer an affiliate program. The best place to look is in the footer on the merchants website. Just scroll down to the bottom and look for a link labeled “affiliates” or “associates program”.

Check out Amazon for example:

The footer of Amazon.co.uk

The footer of Amazon.co.uk

or Walmart..

The Walmart footer with an affiliate program link

The Walmart footer with an affiliate program link

Just click the link and sign-up for free and you can usually start promoting them.

If you're not sure who you'd like to promote you can find ideas and inspiration of affiliate network sites like Clickbank and CJ.

How much can you earn with Affiliate Marketing?

As much as you like! It depends on a lot of factors, like the product your promoting, the market and of course, how much effort you put into it.

To be a success you'll need traffic. Lots of it. And to get traffic you need good quality content, like videos, articles, news and reviews.

What you'll need

  • Hosting – I recommend HostGator. Use code “EAGLEONE” for a discount.
  • A domain name (.com, .net etc). If you already have one, great, you can use it. You'll find out how in the video. If you don't you can register one when you setup your hosting or you can check out companies like Godaddy.
  • Reviews Theme – A high quality premium WordPress theme that makes it easy for you to setup your website and content.

About this tutorial

In this video tutorial we go through setting up an affiliate marketing website using WordPress. The site will be based around reviews, but can be used for other content if required. By having a review site you can catch visitors just before they are about to buy, which should lead to high conversion rates, and in turn, more commission! 🙂

As it's powered by WordPress it has the following features and benefits:

  • Easy to use and setup
  • Responsive design (it works well on tablets and smart phones)
  • Includes editable pages and blog posts
  • Built in search functionality
  • Easy to add extra features
  • It looks great!

If you've not viewed the demo site, be sure to check it out here.

With a review site you post honest reviews about products and services along with your affiliate links so people can easily make a purchase.

I've decided to create the example affiliate website around WordPress themes as I already have some content that I can add quick and easily.

I have a love for WordPress (you might of guessed) which makes it much easier for me to create new content. This content will be reviews about themes and plugins and other associated services, like hosting.

You'll need to keep this in mind when you are deciding what you'll be making your Affiliate marketing site about. By choosing something you enjoy you'll find it much easier to find the motivation you'll need to create some great content.

This video tutorial is quite long but if you stick with it, you should be able to get a site up and running and ready for content in just a 2-3 hours. If you get stuck or if have any questions on the way, please post them in the comments and i'll do my best to help you out.

  1. Can you have a WordPress site featuring products from multiple affiliates, that also includes Amazon. I’m currently a member of http://www.cj.com and Rakuten Linkshare, they have affiliates I’d like to include on a WordPress site.

The platform I’m currently using for wellness products is from a company called Wave2Wellness and their platform (to say the least is ugly). I own the domain name. I’d prefer changing over to a WordPress site.

I also want to have another affiliate site with a different niche.

I’m not too familiar with setting up a WordPress site. I just finishing watching your video on setting up a WP affiliate site for Amazon. It was very informative.

  2. Hi Alex Thanks for the great support and
effort I want to build a affiliate site but I have no money to buy themes

    1. Hahahaha, this comment caught my attention. You can use free WP themes and plugins, but you can’t escape traffic and SEO payments. The good news is, online business requires capital and time to be a successful entrepreneur. No shortcuts.

You must spend to earn, just like a business outside.
